| In spring 2007, the AOPdigital Season took place at the AOP Gallery, London EC2. The array of events offered an insight into the workings, demands and changing responsibility of those who shoot and supply images in the digital medium. More events will be taking place in the autumn/winter of 2007, and will be announced shortly. Digital Careers TalkWednesday 28 March, 15:00-17:00 Come and hear from established professionals on the importance of digital photography and what emerging photographers and assistants need to consider. This is your opportunity to hear what the career is really like, from the advantages of digital capture and immediate review to the pit falls of file management. The talk will be hosted by photographer Matthew Ward (www.matthewwardphotography.com) and an assisting photographer.

Open Standards for Digital WorkflowTuesday 3 April, 18:30-21:00 There are now a small number of papers which aim to clarify the issues affecting accurate reproduction and management of digital image files. This discussion will look at the range of guidelines available and draw out the most salient aspects for practical application. An overview of three current present best practice documents on digital workflow (UpDig, IQA, pic4press) will explore why they were produced, how they were produced and how they work. The talk, led by Bob Marchant, will be followed by a Q&A session.
Finishing Touch exhibition launchThursday 12 April, 18:30-21:00 With the majority of images being captured, viewed and distributed digitally around the globe, digital photography has become an influential tool in modern communication. Technological advances and the changes in working practices have had an enormous impact on the face of the industry allowing the individual greater creativity. This exhibition showcases the very best of digital imaging, where power of digital post-production has been harnessed. Comprised of work by professional photographers and retouchers, the exhibition will be held at the AOP Gallery from 11 April to 3 May.

Who does the Separations?POSTPONED: Tuesday 24 April, 18:30-21:00 This event is being merged with 'Costing the Digital Workflow' on 26 April A discussion addressing the primary issues concerning which colour space you should supply your material in should you provide RGB or CMYK? And is it worthwhile producing aim prints or proofs, who takes responsibility for what? Just as importantly whom should charge who for the additional service and how? Bring your questions, opinions and suggestions (not necessarily in that order). Panelists will include representatives from a cross section of the industry. Costing the Digital WorkflowThursday 26 April, 18:30-21:00 Examining issues within the digital workflow forum, particularly costing and recharging, and the possible implication of extended liability. This seminar will look at best and established practice in this vital area in an industry seeking to continue it drive to reduce costs and passing on additional responsibility to photographers and image creators. Through a preceding survey, plus further research and analysis, we want to establish the current state of practice and identify how photographers can achieve best practice. The resulting best practice paper for "costing the digital workflow" will be presented and discussed at the seminar.
The Compleat Digital PhotographerTuesday 1 May, 18:30-21:00 Digital Plumber Paul Ellis and editorial photographer and library contributor Andrew Wiard run through practical stratagems, methods and procedures for ensuring safe, reliable digital capture, storage and delivery. How-to's and checklists will include location shooting, downloading, reviewing and sorting procedures, including submission to picture desks and creation of web galleries; studio equipment setup including retouching workstations, storage and backup; and simple crisis survival guides.
